Learning how to build an online business and how to use affiliate marketing doesn’t have to be that expensive. Actually, it can be done with much less. SAN is a program i would never recommend to a beginner or to someone who failed at affiliate marketing before and is now looking for a new perspective. There are just too many upsells, and it gets really expensive.

1. New vs. existing customers. New customers traditionally have higher lifetime value than existing ones. This is because every new customer grows your customer base. And once you own the customers, you pay less to convert them on future purchases. Customers who have purchased from you already know your product, value your service, and presumably trust you. It costs more to acquire a new customer because you have to build that credibility and trust.
If your website doesn’t have much traffic to speak of, there’s probably not a big opportunity for you now in affiliate marketing. Focus on producing high quality content, building some links, and getting a recurring stream of visitors to your site. But if you have a website that is already attracting a significant number of visitors from referring sites, organic search, and direct visits, affiliate marketing could be a logical way to monetize.

4. A clear competitive advantage. Every affiliate network says they have great support, highest payouts, reporting, etc. To get a super affiliate’s attention you need to be clear about what your competitive advantage is. Do you do one niche better than anyone else? Do you have exclusives? Are your landing pages converting really well? Communicate a different competitive advantage from the rest and it will pay dividends.
Of course, promoting SAN is optional but that is what almost every member does. After all, when you join a high-ticket membership program your primary objective is to sell their courses. Because that is how you can earn a lot of money. And their training focuses on how to drive traffic to your capture pages, attract leads and not so much about how to become an authority in your niche or how to find and sell products in any market you want.
Ask for the right information upfront: Great personalization starts way before you hit the ‘send’ button. It all starts with your sign up form. Without data such as name, company and location, you will be very limited with your personalized communication. Remember to only ask for the information you need, rather than the information you want. This is one of the ways that GDPR has impacted marketing teams.
Good point about reviewing online courses before you promote them to protect your reputation. However, I would like to point out that the level of attention the course creator gives you (the endorser) and what they give to a random customer might be very different. There are so called marketing gurus out there who are extremely skilled at making false promises and not delivering on them. Once they have the endorsement of a few reputed marketers and some ‘lucky’ customers, they can easily get away with ripping other people off with hyped up money making guarantees. I have had a personal experience with this as a customer, but lets not mention names! The point is, when we are promoting someone, we need to do an in-depth due diligence. Only going through their course is not enough. It would be great if there was some kind of a course review site -something like tripadvisor. This is something that the industry really needs – something to make people accountable. A lot of people are losing faith in these online courses. I am staying away from promoting people unless I am very certain of their integrity.
So with e-commerce shopping carts, that's easy to do, but for service-based businesses, like I said like your company or a regular service company, let's say like a roofing company or a plumbing company. They truly do thrive on referrals, and word of mouth, because let's say you get your roof done and the roofer does a great job, your friends, your neighbors are obviously going to see that you just a new roof. So of course they're going to ask you, "Okay, who did your roof? How much did you pay?"

2. Product categories with varying margins. If you have many products, your margins on each one will likely vary. Electronics might have a tight margin, while home decor may have more leeway. If you are looking to establish a flat commission structure — i.e., a set revenue-share percentage, no matter what item the affiliate sells — then evaluate what your product mix is. What percentage of your sales are low margin? What percentage are high margin? From here, develop a blended commission rate that will be profitable for both you and your affiliate.

The only way personal coaching can work is if the system (training course) eliminates the financial motive for the coaches. If they can’t make any more money from you after you already paid for that membership/product then and only then you can be sure that the coach is there to help you. Ever since I first stumbled across the Elite Marketing Pro launch just about a year ago, I’ve completely loved the system. The amount of value that it has to offer in the form of educational marketing material without taking into account the income opportunity is insane. It’s great to see performance marketers thinking about the affiliate channel in relation to budget because the same budget challenges apply in all channels. As an affiliate, I used to get angry every time I got an email telling me an affiliate commission was reduced. Nobody likes being told they are getting less per sale, but I started asking why. Often the answers were incredibly fair. The reality is, there are plenty of valid reasons an affiliate commission isn’t a static number.

Record the sales you made in a spreadsheet, including the distributor service, the product, the date it was sold and how much money you made. To track when you get paid, create a "Pending" column and a "Paid" column. You can then put the amount in the Pending column when you make the sale and move that number to the Paid column when you receive your money.

Overpriced. The Basic Membership is not expensive, but if you want to earn big commissions you will have to spend thousands of dollars buying the rest of their products or at least the Pro Membership. Although the training is good, it only focuses on a couple of marketing strategies. SAN is not a cheap program and  no one can guarantee your success.
