The Associates Program is free to join, and we provide resources on the Associates Site to help Associates succeed with the program. We have never authorized any business to provide paid set-up or consulting services to our associates, so please be wary if any business like that (even one attempting to appropriate the Amazon name) reaches out to offer you costly services.
Once you join a network as a merchant, you will post your offer, and affiliates can begin requesting access to join your program. You can set your preferred settings so that you review all applications, or you can choose auto-accept. Once joined, the restaurant could simply add a link on their website and they’d be off and running! As another idea, maybe that IT company buys all of their office furniture from a local furniture store. Chances are high that the local shop also has customers who would be in need of IT services, so why not ask that local furniture store if they’d be interested in exploring another revenue stream? As long as it makes sense for both parties, there’s a conversation worth having.
There are basically 2 ways to join SAN. For $1 there is a 30-day trial and after that is $47/month for as long as you remain a member. Or you can skip the $1 trial and join for $37/month. That way you can save $10 every month. That is also the reason some people get confused about how much it really costs to join SAN. You must know though that if you choose the $1 trial and decide you don’t want to continue you must cancel your membership or you will be charged $47 after the trial expires.

Use personalization. Personalizing the content of your emails (depending on your segment from Chapter 3) will make it so much more relevant and valuable to them. Personalization goes beyond sticking your subscriber’s first name into the email. You need to tailor the actual content of the email to address their needs. For instance, an online retailer will find it much more valuable to read an email with the subject line, “How to build backlinks to your eCommerce store” than just a generic subject line, “How to build backlinks.”

So you are ready to take the affiliate world by storm. The first big hurdle is to decide what you are going to pay your affiliates. Keep the subject line and pre-header short: The subject line is crucial. Keep it short so the reader knows exactly what the email topic is about. And the pre-header text (also known as snippet text), don’t let it go to waste by using “To view this email in your browser…”.
